Integrity Building Products expands component manufacturing

Always looking forward, the Integrity Group of Companies has announced its next expansion with the addition of a new business unit focusing on manufacturing – Integrity Building Components Ltd.

Located in the Warner Business Park near Okotoks, Alberta, Integrity Building Components Ltd manufactures both engineered wood product (EWP) floor systems and pre-fabricated wall panels. The increased manufacturing capacity supports Integrity Building Products in serving the home-building industry of Calgary and areas in the supply of building material packages for single and multi-family residential projects.

Labour shortages driving popularity in manufactured components

In 2020, Calgary and area experienced the start of another housing boom as the market for new homes grew following COVID. At this time home builders experienced a significant challenge in recruiting and keeping skilled labour, including framers, limiting the number of homes they could build and extending build times significantly.

Pre-fabricated wall panels was one solution to the industry’s labour shortages. These wall panels are built off-site, based on builder-supplied construction plans. Once assembled the wall panels are shipped to the building site and the structure can be more quickly erected by the framing crew. This change in traditional construction methods requires less framing labour and increases the speed of the framing stage, while also significantly contributing to reduced material waste.

Integrity has played an important role in helping some of their customers transition to pre-fabricated wall panels. “We are always looking for ways to innovate and bring true business value to our customers,” explains Scott Myer, Chief Operating Officer with Integrity. “Pre-fabricated wall panels was the logical step for our customers. ”

Integrity Building Components begins operations

Initially, Integrity’s involvement with automated production of wall panels began on a specialized equipment line situated in Fort Macleod through an existing business partnership.  With the concept of Integrity Building Components, manufacturing capacity will increase as will proximity to major markets.

“As we worked with our building partners to transition them to pre-fabricated wall panels”, explains Scott, “we recognized that both existing and future customers of Integrity Building Products would benefit from both increased supply as well as more responsive service including shorter delivery periods.”

Your product when and where you need it

Integrity Building Products continues to focus on ensuring that building material packages are delivered to customers seamlessly, including ladder packages, floor systems, roof trusses and pre-fab wall panels. “Manufacturing critical building components like floors and walls closer to the market we serve enables greater responsiveness,” explains Scott. “We are here to help evolve and support home builders in addressing their many challenges. The addition of Integrity Building Components is just one more example.”
