Purchasing a post-frame building represents a significant financial investment. Buyers should be able to make that investment with confidence that their structure will be free of unforeseen expenses to repair defects once the building is complete.
Our Warranty Guide is to help building owners understand whether an issue can be defined as a defect and explains the actions owners can expect Integrity Post Structures to take to resolve those defects. We have produced this guide in order to ensure that owners, contractors, suppliers and warranty providers alike clearly understand their rights and responsibilities as it relates to questions that may arise following the completion of a build.
The Guide primarily addresses traditional post-frame structures, and may not apply in all respects to other types of buildings or customizations.
As the builder, Integrity Post Structures Ltd. (IPS) offers an extensive, industry-leading warranty on standard workmanship. The warranty is in place to protect owners against unforeseen defects. It does not cover possible contract-related issues as it is generally considered the owner’s responsibility to address any issues directly with the builder prior to, or at the time of, the final building walk-through.
For a period of five (5) years after the commencement date of the Workmanship Warranty, the following items are included:
Any alterations, additions or modifications performed by the owner or non-approved third-party supplier that could affect the structural integrity of the building will void the 5-Year Workmanship Warranty.
The following are not considered defects or structural defects and as such, are excluded from the Workmanship Warranty:
If ownership of the building changes within the period covered by the Workmanship Warranty, the balance of the remaining coverage period transfers to the new owner. Owners who sell property including a building should provide the warranty information to the new owners. Notice to Integrity Post Structures is not required.
Integrity Post Structures works with trusted partners to ensure your building is of the highest quality. There are specific components of a post-frame structure in which Integrity Post Structures acts as the “Seller”. In the situation of warranty coverage for items outside of our Workmanship Warranty, we are pleased to provide any/all limited warranties offered by our suppliers. The scope of our obligation under a supplier’s materials warranty shall be limited to the terms and conditions contained therein.
Integrity Post Structures (the “Seller” and the “Installer”) warrants the products sold under this warranty to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of ONE YEAR. Labour to repair or replace is included during this warranty period. This warranty extends only to the original purchaser (the “Buyer”) and expires one year after the date of installation.
This warranty does not apply to any product which has been altered, modified, damaged or deteriorated due to normal wear and tear, abuse or misuse, neglect, or accident. Warranty will be VOID if any repairs are made or attempted to be made by any party not authorized by the Seller, or if failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance.
In certain circumstances, the material manufacturer may warranty their product beyond one year. Integrity Post Structures will support owners in facilitating component replacement where applicable. Labour, or additional direct costs, to repair or replace are the owner’s responsibility.
The highest quality exterior grade ceramic pigmentation is paramount to ensure optimal long-term retention of colour and gloss. Integrity Post Structures product features coatings formulated with a super durable modified polyester resin. This results in superior resistance to chalking, fading and environmental weathering.
Integrity Post Structures warrants to the purchaser of pre-painted roll-formed panels that the paint will maintain its film integrity for 40 YEARS, providing the metal has been stored, transported and installed in accordance with all installation instructions and the conditions of the warranty document.
Integrity Post Structures will support owners in facilitating component replacement where applicable. Labour, or additional direct costs, to repair or replace are the owner’s responsibility.
Perma-Column LLC guarantees every Perma-Column® product sold by Perma-Column LLC to be free from defects in material or manufacturing. This warranty does not apply to uses not in compliance with specific applications and installation procedures set forth in Perma-Column LLC published literature, Design and Use Guides, and Installation Manuals nor does it apply to modified products or products deteriorated by harsh environmental conditions. Perma-Column LLC will repair or provide a replacement for any Perma-Column LLC product proven to have an unacceptable level of defect during the lifetime of the original building owner, while he owns the building.
All warranty obligations of Perma-Column LLC shall be limited, at the discretion of Perma-Column LLC, to repair or replace the defective part. These remedies shall constitute Perma-Column LLC’s sole obligation and sole remedy of the purchaser under this warranty. In no event will Perma-Column LLC be responsible for incidental, consequential, or special loss or damage, however caused.
This warranty is non-transferable and is only in effect while the original purchaser owns the building. This warranty does not cover any component which fails because of misuse, neglect, accident, or natural disaster (such as but not limited to tornados, earthquakes, fires, or floods.)
This warranty is expressly in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, all such other warranties being hereby expressly excluded.
Prior to the commencement of warranty, often at the same time as closing and/or settlement, a qualified representative of Integrity Post Structures and the building owner should perform a walk-through to inspect the new building together. During the inspection, the parties involved should verify that all terms of the contract have been met, the building is complete and all items are in working order. At this time, we will take the opportunity to provide an orientation to explain the operation of any building systems and required maintenance, if applicable.
During the inspection, the owner and builder should thoroughly examine the entire interior and exterior of the building. Any damaged, incomplete, or missing items, as well as anything that is not operating properly, should be noted and recorded on the completion form. The rectification of any/all deficiencies noted during the completion inspection is a contractual manner between the owner and builder and may be excluded from warranty coverage. The information recorded (or not) and agreed to on the completion form may be used to determine whether or not specific items may be covered like, but not limited to, physical damage to materials, incomplete work and accepted work.
The commencement date of all applicable warranties is determined to be the date of building close-out. Warranty coverage is null and void if payment has not been received in full, as per the contracted agreement including all change orders.
Proper care and maintenance is important to preserve the long-term value of any building. Performing required maintenance for certain aspects of the post-frame structure will help ensure your warranty coverage is not adversely affected.
This is a general warranty guide. Please refer to your official Integrity Post Structures Warranty information, included in your building completion email, for key dates (coverage period) and contact information.
